Quilters

Quilters This activity is for all quilters – beginners, intermediate and advanced. We all work and learn together from one another.

One of the activities that we are known for is presenting Hawthorne residents who move to Assisted Living and Nursing Homes with a quilt. As a show of compassion, we often also gift quilts to those who have been unfortunate with fire damage to their homes. Each year a quilt is completed

by the club and raffled off, with the proceeds being donated to a local fund raising group.

We have also made and sent many quilted items to disaster victims around the U.S. We meet every Monday (excluding Maintenance Mondays) at 1:00 p.m. in the Palm Room. We use this time to catch up on what is happening in our group, make plans for quilt shop outings, have show ‘n tell, welcome new quilters, and get to know each other. We also schedule some Mondays as a “Sew-In” Day. On these days we meet in the Craft Room at 9:00 a.m. and sew/quilt until our regular 1:00 p.m. meeting. We have the Craft Room again after the meeting until 4:00 p.m. if we wish to continue sewing/quilting. (Contact one of the quilters to determine which Mondays we will have our Sew-In.)

We also meet every Tuesday evening in the Craft Room at 6:30 p.m. This is a very informal meeting where everyone is invited to bring the project they are working on. Some of us bring our sewing machine to sew, while others bring some of their hand sewing projects. Lots of sharing and inspiration occurs at this meeting.
