Bocce Ball

Bocce Ball is a game of Italian origin similar to lawn bowling played on a long narrow court with two teams consisting of two to four players. Each team will be playing with four red balls or four green balls. The red team goes first, rolling the pallino (small yellow ball) onto the court and then rolling one red ball to see how close they can get to the pallino. Now the green team rolls their first ball to see how close they can get to the pallino. The ball closest to the pallino is “in”. The opposing team rolls their second ball trying to get closer to the pallino. Play alternates in this fashion until all the balls have been played. After all the balls have been played, points are awarded. Points are awarded for each of the balls closer to the pallino than the nearest ball of the opposing team. Only one team scores points. Play continues until a predetermined number of points has been reached.
